ABOUT
Born in Ankara, grew up in Istanbul, Gizem received her bachelors degree in law and her LLM from University of Strasbourg. She also holds a law degree from University of Istanbul and has been practicing in intellectual property law since then.
In line with her career in law, Gizem simultaneously started painting classes at Pera Fine Arts School then continued to improve her skill set by practicing various techniques at different art studios across Istanbul.
Gizem believes that the color directly affects the soul. She is enthusiastic in mix matching of different materials, techniques and colors. She works in her studio in Istanbul where she exhibits all of her works.
She currently upcycles old art pieces purchased from thrift stores. She believes transforming an old piece into a new one while knowing it was a witness to another life of someone in somewhere is another level of pleasure.
